Position Overview: 

The Serve Director is responsible for strategically leading CFK’s Serve Pathway, managing all serve/volunteer events, volunteer engagement, the Socialight program and CFK’s prayer team. This role ensures CFK's mission to support children and families in foster care is fulfilled through well-organized, impactful events and a robust volunteer program. The Serve Director will work closely with churches, community partners, and volunteers to create engagement opportunities that align with CFK’s overall mission. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Volunteer Management 

  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies with churches, community partners, and local organizations to maintain a strong pipeline of committed volunteers. 

  • Oversee the scheduling, onboarding, training, and management of volunteers, ensuring all are well-prepared and understand CFK’s values and expectations. 

  • Identify and cultivate volunteer leaders by providing tools, training, and responsibilities for them to manage smaller teams or initiatives. 

  • Implement long-term retention strategies to keep volunteers engaged, connected to CFK’s mission, and feeling valued. 

  • Manage a comprehensive volunteer database, tracking hours, skills, preferences, and feedback to enhance volunteer experiences. 

Serve Event Leadership 

  • Design and manage a yearly calendar of serve events, ensuring alignment with CFK’s mission and goals, and responding to the needs of the foster care system. 

  • Oversee all logistics for serve events, including site selection, material procurement, volunteer roles, safety protocols, and contingency planning. 

  • Lead volunteer teams for key events such as Something BIG, We See You, Christmas in July, Merry Market, and Socialight Drive-Thru, ensuring efficient execution and strong volunteer support. 

  • Partner with CFK’s partners to secure in-kind donations, sponsorships, and volunteer support. 

  • Conduct post-event evaluations with staff and volunteers, capturing lessons learned and organizing follow-up communication with participants, donors, and sponsors. 

  • Manage the budget for serve events, ensuring all activities are both impactful and cost-effective. 

 

Socialight Program Oversight 

  • Lead the development and execution of the Socialight program to ensure frontline social workers receive the recognition, resources, and support they need.  

  • Identify opportunities to expand the program’s reach, deepening its impact on social workers and the broader foster care community. 

  • Plan and execute regular Socialight appreciation events, ranging from small-scale recognition activities to large, celebratory gatherings. 

  • Build relationships with agency leadership to ensure Socialight initiatives meet the needs of social workers and strengthen partnerships between CFK and county agencies. 

  • Regularly recruit Socialight team members and prayer partners, while expanding the program’s reach nationally. 

  • Track the effectiveness of Socialight by collecting feedback, measuring program participation, and analyzing its impact, using data to inform future improvements. 

  • Manage the Socialight program budget, ensuring all activities are both impactful and cost-effective. 

 

Prayer Team Oversight 

  • Manage the monthly routines related to the prayer team including hosting a monthly prayer call, sending out monthly prayer communications and on-demand text messages to prayer team 

  • Actively engage in prayer team recruitment 

  • Prepare annual prayer team materials with the assistance of the marketing team  

  • Oversight and facilitation of annual night of prayer and worship 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Event Planning, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, event coordination, program management, or nonprofit leadership. 

  • Passion for serving children and families in the foster care system. 

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience in team management, volunteer management and/or event planning. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. 

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative space, team player 

  • Ability to prioritize and navigate competing tasks while maintaining deadlines and delegating as necessary 

  • Strategic Thinker, experience setting goals and measuring progress 

  • Event planning and execution experience 

  • Highly motivated and a self -starter with positive attitude  

  • Extensive Microsoft office experience 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience working with churches or faith-based organizations. 

  • Previous experience in social services or the foster care/child welfare system (personal or professional) 

  • Experience with budgeting, fundraising, and securing sponsorships or donations.
